GRUNDTVIG - Grand Treasures

Ponte...nas ondas! is involved, through the programe European Grundtvig, Aprendizagem ao Longo da Vida - in the Grand Treasures project, that involves socio-cultural organizations in 6 countries: Poland - a country responsible for coordinating the program and represented by Centrum Inicjatyw UNESCO in Wroclaw; Galicia - through association Antaxurada SL, from Santiago de Compostela; Greece, group Media dell 'Arte of Ilioupoli, Athens; Kultuur aitab hingata of Pärnu represents Estonia; the 5th partner is Ponte...nas ondas! association and finally, we have the Latvian National Commission of UNESCO, Riga, representing Latvia.

The aim of this project is to connect and facilitate the exchange of experiences among groups that are committed to preserving the oral tradition and to promote intergenerational dialogue. Understanding that the Treasures are witnesses, people who lived stories that hold special meaning or keep arts, crafts or knowledge. We want to share best practices to identify the stories, collect them, keep them and organize them and how to make them reach the general public. We want to share Grand Treasures' stories with members of our local communities and let other communities know them. This will be achieved through organized workshops, meetings with experts and witnesses who may be in themselves treasures. Simultaneously we will use the best practices learnt with our partners on projects in our local communities. It will promote festivals, workshops, meetings with treasure bearers, publications, meetings with Living Libraries and Storytellers, according to the special vocation of each participant.

The main expected outcomes will be the strengthening of the relationship between the participating organizations, the organization of a common online archive in which we will share stories, the association's web page through which we will share our experiences in this project and the best practices used in the conservation and promotion of the oral heritage. Another important aspect is the awakening, in those communities in which the work of the member organizations is developed, of the concern for these Treasures and the recognition of their lifelong learning experience, as well as the promotion of the intergenerational dialogue at local level.
