The jury of the aRi[t]mar Galicia and Portugal competition has just decided that the cultural and pedagogical association Ponte… nas Ondas! will be the winner of the Special Jury Prize for the Galician-Portuguese Friendship Embassy 2022.
To promote the existence of a common identity between the Galician and Portuguese peoples, Ponte… nas Ondas! has been organizing cultural and educational activities in the north of Portugal and Galicia for over twenty-five years. Created in 1995, this entity was born taking advantage of the construction of a physical bridge between the towns of Monção and Salvaterra de Minho and established a communication bridge between Portugal and Galicia through radio. The first activity developed by the entity was carried out by students from 16 schools on both sides of the Minho, using the Ecos do Raio de Monção studies and others located at the Casa da Cultura de Salvaterra de Minho.
There were several awards received for this initiative before gaining recognition from aRi[t]mar Galicia and Portugal. Among the most important awards are the ONDAS Award, one of the most important in Spain, won in 2014 for the “best information coverage of the Galician-Portuguese intangible heritage”, and “Premio Galicia de Comunicación”, awarded in 2005 by the Xunta da Galiza.
