A “foliada”, also known as “serán, polavila, ruada, fiadeiro or baile”, is a traditional popular celebration featuring Galician dance and music.
The Foliada of the Galician-Portuguese Letters was held on May 23, 2025, in Santiago de Compostela and included the participation of 15 educational centers from Galicia and Portugal, individuals and communities who are bearers of the Galician-Portuguese intangible heritage, and performances by Os Fondaos do Pífaro and the group De Vacas.
To mark the celebration of the 2025 Year of Galician Letters, dedicated to oral literature and traditional singers (cantareiras), Ponte…nas ondas! Promotes the transmission of the traditional Galician-Portuguese songbook—shared by Galicia and Portugal—to new generations.

The Galician-Portuguese oral heritage celebrated during the 2025 Year of Galician Letters is a heritage shared with other Lusophone countries. This is an example of a visit in 2004 by a group of students from the Instituto Béradêro (founded by Chico César in Catolé do Rocha, Paraíba) on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Ponte…nas ondas! They brought samples of their heritage and shared them in Galicia and Portugal, recording this piece for a performance on TVG (Galician public television) where they appeared alongside the group Treixadura. Our bridge made it possible! Let us sing and dance!
