- This program promotes the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage through spaces and actions to raise awareness among younger generations.
- The objective is to progressively incorporate this model recognized by the United Nations into the public education system.
A total of 19 educational schools are renewing their participation this year in the Ponte… nas Ondas! heritage education model, recognized in 2022 by UNESCO as an example of good practices in raising awareness of heritage in childhood.
Through this program, the involvement of schoolchildren in their own traditions is encouraged and the youngest are made aware of the importance of intangible cultural heritage. In this way, transmission to new generations is promoted while continuing to work to strengthen ties with the Portuguese language and the link with Portugal.

The aim is to progressively incorporate this model recognised by the United Nations into the public education system. Ponte… nas ondas! was born from the Cultural and Pedagogical Association that bears its name in 1995 in the Galicia-Northern Portugal Euroregion, as a formula to promote closer ties between the educational community of schools in the south of Pontevedra and Alto Minho with the Lusophone area and to build bridges of communication between Galicians and Portuguese.
In 2002, the commitment to the recovery and dissemination of the Intangible Cultural Heritage common to Galicia and Portugal was incorporated into this objective. In 2022, the XVII Intergovernmental Committee of UNESCO approved its inscription in the UNESCO Register of Good Practices for the Intangible Cultural Heritage as a reference model.
