At the 19th Convention on Intangible Cultural Heritage held in Paraguay.
UNESCO wants to give greater visibility to the Register of Good Practices with the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) and to this, will create a digital platform where those initiatives that best contribute to the preservation of ICH will be highlighted. Among them is the PNO! model registered in 2022 within the framework of the 18th convention held in Rabat.
Ponte…nas ondas! was contacted this fall, as a consulting NGO (the only accredited entity in Galicia) to include information about its practices and disseminate them within the framework of the 19th convention held in Asunción (Paraguay) this December.
In this latest Convention, UNESCO emphasized its intention to prioritize the initiative that emerged in 2022, where the conclusions of a group of experts recommending the creation of an online platform for the exchange of good experiences in safeguarding were approved.
The new platform could become an innovative and effective tool when fully operational, with a digital space to present relevant web resources (images, videos, audios, graphics) of good practices. According to the secretariat, “this will be a fundamental initiative for the future of the Convention”.
In order to establish a pilot group of good experiences to be presented on the platform, UNESCO is currently carrying out a mapping process of existing safeguarding experiences. These experiences come from its own Register of good practices already registered as well as from NGOs accredited for the ICH by UNESCO itself.
The platform will launch a “demo” version in the second half of 2025, on an experimental basis, the pilot group of good safeguarding experiences. This launch will coincide with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ponte…nas ondas!, which will take place throughout 2025 with various activities.
