• The association invites educational institutions in Galicia and Portugal to celebrate ICH through a series of educational initiatives.
• Lugo hosts the main events: a photographic exhibition on UNESCO-listed ICH assets at the USC’s intercampus library; the performance “Enfiando o inmaterial” at the Provincial Museum; and workshops on traditional knowledge for schools.
• In Pontevedra, the radio and intangible heritage workshop series “Falamos nas Ondas” begins its journey.
• In A Coruña, the book O cancioneiro galego-portugués, published by the Provincial Council of A Coruña, will be presented this Friday.

Last year, UNESCO declared October 17 as the International Day of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH), adding a new date alongside November 16, the International Day of Heritage.
The Cultural and Educational Association Ponte… nas ondas! (the only organization in Galicia accredited by UNESCO for ICH) proposes, for this second celebration, a program for schools to integrate and celebrate ICH in the classroom. At the same time, it encourages participation in global actions surrounding this living heritage—carried by individuals and communities. In this regard, Galicia is a pioneer in creating a network of schools following the “Ponte… nas ondas! model of good practices in intangible cultural heritage,” which are incorporating ICH into their general school plans with support from the Galician Ministry of Education.
Ponte… nas ondas!, recognized by UNESCO as a “model of good practices” in ICH at the proposal of Portugal and Spain, encourages society to embrace this celebration and raise awareness of the expressions and manifestations of our intangible heritage. It calls on schools to pass on the value of intangible culture to students.
Main event in Lugo
Ponte… nas ondas!, in collaboration with the University of Santiago de Compostela, the Provincial Museum of Lugo, the Lugo City Council, CENTRAD of the Lugo Provincial Council, and the Galician Government, has organized various events in the city to commemorate the International Day of ICH.
