Ponte... nas Ondas!

Ponte… nas Ondas! at the 5th Meeting of Cultural Managers of the Ministry of Culture

Celebrated in Caravaca (Murcia) on February 12, 13 and 14.

The Ministry of Culture invited Ponte nas…ondas! to expose its experience together with other associations and entities that work with Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The Casa da Cultura “Emilio Sáez”, in Caravaca de la Cruz, held the 5th National Meeting of Intangible Cultural Heritage Organizers, attended by representatives of entities, public administrations, communities, researchers, associations and groups in charge of preserving and organizing events that in Spain enjoy the declaration of Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO or who opt to obtain it.

These days, promoted by the Subdirectorate of Management and Coordination of Cultural Beneficiaries of the Ministry of Culture, with the collaboration of the Council of Caravaca de la Cruz, aim to serve as a meeting point between different places in Spain to exchange experiences, share practical ideas and share problems and solutions. The themes of this meeting focused on “Intangible Heritage, environmental sustainability and climate change.”

The president of the Bando dos Cabalos do Viño, José Antonio Rubio, was in charge of opening the days by welcoming all the participants and highlighting some aspects of the festival, which was declared Intangible Heritage in December 2020. Next, through videoconference, Ángeles Albert, general director of Cultural Heritage and Fine Arts, spoke, highlighting that “encounters like this are of great “useful to advance not only in the safeguarding of our culture”

The attendees were also addressed by the general director of Cultural Heritage of the Region of Murcia, Patricio Sánchez, and in response to the interventions of the inauguration, the mayor of Caravaca, José Francisco García, who highlighted that “this meeting is the best forum to share good practices regarding the conservation, defense and dissemination of our intangible cultural heritage and for us, in addition, a new opportunity to thank all the support we receive so that our proposal was inscribed by UNESCO in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity”.

PNO! has participated in the table “Climate change and ICH: management experiences” as a member of the Registry of good practices with UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage in 2022. The exhibition, led by Santiago Veloso, served to pay homage to all the educational centers that were celebrating “World Radio Day” that day. PNO! presented the web portal “Escolas na ondas” with all the programming on “radio and climate change”, a theme proposed by UNESCO for this edition. The intervention was accompanied by a video about the 30 years of experience and the activities that are being carried out on this 30th anniversary were presented.

The event ended with a visit to the educational center La Santa Cruz de Caravaca, a center that works with radio and intangible cultural heritage and where the students presented an application to apply to their cultural heritage.
